wins the Olympiad for the second time in a row
Russia won 7 matches, drew 2 and lost 2 to take the fifth place
in the World Chess Olympiad that took place in Drresden, Germany
The super strong Russian Team, with the highest Elo
average in history, 2756, with the full line-up
being Kramnik (2772), Morozevich (2787), Svidler
(2727), Grischuk (2719) and Jakovenko (2737) was not
enough to win the title and once more had to content
themselves with a modest finish.

Russian Team. Kramnik drew his first 4 games
after tough fights against Milton (Poland),
Dominguez (Cuba),Sasikiran (India) and Naiditsch
(Germany). He then beat Short in the 6th round and
drew against Aronian in the 7th, Ivanchuk in the 9th, Beliavsky in the 10th
and Shirov on the 11th His final score was
5/9, unbeaten.
